Diana!

For our second concert of the summer season we went to see Diana Ross at Wolf Trap last night. The place was packed! We got there early enough to get a good seat.

We enjoyed some nice wine, a delicious picnic dinner, and the soulful sounds of Diana Ross. Last year I took my camera because they allowed cameras. This year they banned cameras so I didn’t get any pictures of Diana. However, I looked back at my pictures from last year and found one where she was wearing the exact same outfit as last year. All her other outfit changes were different from last year.

DC Jazz Festival

Summer has begun! Last evening we went to the DC Jazz Festival concert at the Sculpture Garden of the National Gallery of Art. It was a bit warm but there was a breeze that felt great. We saw and heard Sin Miedo: A Salsa Party. It was latin music that made us dance a little. We had a great time listening the music and watching all the people. The place was packed with all types of young people as well as older people enjoying the music. We had dinner in the Pavilion Cafe with a friend of ours. He took several pictures of us being silly. Here is one of my favorite pictures of us together. It’s out of focus but it shows what a good time we were having. Below that you can see some other pictures from the evening.

Another Year Closer To Retirement

Today I finished my 27th year of teaching. That brings me closer to retirement. I haven’t had any official estimate of when I can actually retire but I do think it’s between 3 and 5 years. Next fall I’ll get an estimate of when I can actually retire. However, I am ready to retire now. If I could only win the lottery, I’d retire tomorrow!

First Concert of the Season

Every summer we plan to go to several concerts at Wolf Trap. We are able to bring a dinner and wine and enjoy them on the lawn while enjoying the concert. Last night we went to Wolf Trap to see Il Volo. I had not heard of them before but they provided a good show. They sing pretty well and had a diverse line up of songs. At one point during the concert we had a down pour. We do come prepared though. We had umbrellas and ponchos to keep us try. We are hoping this isn’t a trend for the rest of the concerts we have planned to attend this summer. Here are a few pictures from the evening.
