Apple Event

Today Apple had their Spring event to introduce some new products. They introduced the iPhone SE, new colors for the iPhone 13 and a new iPad Air. But that was not all! They also introduced a new display called the Studio Display. They also introduced the Mac Studio. A new computer that is aimed towards the Pro users. You can get an amazingly fast chip inside. And lots of ports! I was SO excited. Of course I had to buy it. I ordered it right away. I haven’t had a computer and separate display since 1987 when I got the Apple II GS. It should be delivered on the 18th. I can’t wait!

New iMac

Last week my inheritance was deposited into my bank account. I move the vast majority of it into my savings but kept some in my checking account to buy myself a new computer. Most people would say, “You just got a new computer.” But I would remind them that is was actually almost two years ago.

Knowing that Apple will soon be updating the iMac with their own chips and probably a new design, this is probably the last intel iMac that they will make. I decided I wanted the upgrade and the last intel iMac. So I ordered one with the specs you see on the left. I maxed it out of course. I say I’ll keep this one a long time but let’s be serious. Once the new one is released I’ll probably want to buy it. I’m afraid though that the new one won’t have the ram upgrade door like the current one and I’ll have to spend a lot of money just for the ram. We’ll see. At least I can still upgrade the ram in the new one. The new one should arrive around the end of the month.

Cathedral Visit

Yesterday we took a walk up to the Cathedral to see the decorations. I was so pleased that I was able to walk up that big hill to the Cathedral and not feel winded. I took some nice pictures while we were there. The iPhone 11 Pro Max has such a good camera system!

I Had A Heart Attack

Today we went to the Joy of Christmas concert at the National Cathedral. Just before going I started to have chest pains. I’ve been having chest pains for about 6 weeks but thought it was a reaction to my blood pressure medications. Usually if I sit down, the pains go away. I thought once we got to the concert and I was able to sit down and calm down, the pains would go away.

They didn’t go away. When we got home from the concert I took my blood pressure and it was 194/111. That is VERY high. My husband and our friends The Dails encouraged me to go the hospital. I didn’t want to ruin our plans but I listened to them and decided to go. I drove my husband and myself to Sibley Hospital which is really close to our house. I know, odd that I would drive but I get a little stressed riding with my husband as he drives so I thought it best that I drive.

Once in the emergency room things moved fast. Within 5 minutes I was getting an EKG. I did an ECG on my Apple Watch and it showed inconclusive results. Then the EKG was done and it also showed inconclusive results. A cardiologist looked at the results and said I was in fact having a heart attack. They then told me they would be putting me on a helicopter and sending me to Suburban Hospital because they have a CATH lab to deal with the emergency.

A few minutes after that I was in the back of a helicopter. It only took about 3 minutes to get to the new hospital. They took me right into the CATH lab and put a catheter in my right wrist. They fished a wire up to my heart and found the artery that was blocked. They put a stint in and instantly the chest pain stopped. The emergency was over. I was out of danger. They then put me in a hospital bed in the cardiac ward and monitored my heart, blood pressure and blood work. I felt so much better.

I’ll be here for a few days to be monitored. I guess I’ll be talking to cardiologists and doctors for the next few days. I’m feeling so much better. I’m so glad my husband and friends convinced me it was time to go to the hospital. I love my husband! He saved me!

They Arrived!

Late today my new AirPods Pro arrived. They were already mostly charged up so I put them right in. The noise cancelling is pretty good! The sound of the music is just about perfect. I really like them! I think most people who get them will like them. I wonder if the noise cancelling will work on an airplane. Not sure. They are nice though.
