Group Hike

Today I joined my retirement group on a hike at a nearby park. We met up at Battery Kemble park. I decided to attend since the park was so close to our house. It was a long hike and I was really tired and sweaty at the end. But it was fun catching up with some of the guys I haven’t seen in a long time. The weather was perfect too!

Cicadas!

The 17 year cicadas are finally hatching all over the place. There’s tons of them in our neighborhood. When I was out walking today I saw this one crawling on the sidewalk. On a nearby tree there were tons of those empty shells they crawl out of. I guess we’ll be seeing this for a few weeks. They are called Brood 10.

Black Lives Matter Plaza

There have been a lot of protests lately. More and more people are joining the marches/protests. And there are more and more police and looks like military out there trying to control them. Today I went on a walk with my friend Lynn. We walked down to Black Lives Matter Plaza. We then walked over to Lafayette Park and saw the huge fences up around the park and around the White House. You can’t get anywhere close to the White House and you can’t go into the park at all. It was a little scary walking around seeing the protests and seeing all the signs up. I was glad I was able to get down there and see it and experience it.

Gray Catbird

Today I was out walking on the trail getting some exercise and looking for some birds when I saw this Gray Catbird sitting on a fallen tree branch. I wasn’t too far away from it and it wasn’t scare or flying away. I had my big camera with the telephoto lens and was able to snap this picture before he flew away.
