Caramel Sundae

I’m staying in Knoxville until Thursday. While here I’m spending as much time with my mom as is possible. Today I took her to McDonald’s for lunch. It’s one of her favorite places to go. We decided to have sundaes for dessert. Her favorite is the caramel sundae. She really enjoyed it. It’s the little moments like this that are precious and I will remember.

Sunburn

Today is my sister’s birthday. Since I was already in Knoxville, I helped her celebrate her birthday by spending time with her. One of my other sister’s and I spent time with our older sister in her pool. We hung out, chatted, swam and had a good time. We were in the pool for almost three hours. I normally don’t spend any time in the sun but I was having so much fun I didn’t think about the time in the pool. As a result, I got a horrible sunburn. I haven’t been this burned since I was a kid. This is going to hurt!

Happy Birthday, Mom

Today my husband and I drove down to Knoxville, Tennessee for my mother’s 88th birthday. Her health hasn’t been very good over the last 6 months or so but not she is stable and is doing pretty well.

All of my siblings except one were able to gather at my sister’s house and celebrate her 88th birthday. We all had a great time visiting and catching up as well as having cake for mom’s birthday. Here are a few pictures.

Visiting Dad

On our way home from Charlottesville, we stopped at the Culpeper National Cemetery to visit my dad’s grave. It was good to visit him and for my husband to see where his resting place is. Another row of graves had been added since I was last there.

New Grave Stone

So…my father died last November. He was cremated and his ashes were buried in the Culpeper National Cemetery. His grave stone did not show his service in Korea so we had to have it corrected. Today I was able to get down to Culpeper and see his corrected grave stone. I’m glad they corrected it to accurately show his service to our country. It was good to finally see his spot in the cemetery. Here’s a picture.
