Voting Day

I drove home from Charlottesville today. I got home in time to go with my husband to vote. Of course we voted BLUE. We are really hoping for the blue wave to happen. I would love it if the dems took the house AND the senate but I know that’s a stretch. We went to the water front after voting and had a glass of wine. Then we went out to dinner. The sky was amazing while we were there. I took a ton of pictures of the sky. I have missed getting amazing pictures of the sky since I moved into DC. We don’t have a balcony and it’s difficult to see the sky unless you are outside. Seeing this sky reminded me of the days I would go out on my balcony and see an amazing sunset sky.

Not much of an update about my dad. When I left he was eating a little breakfast but was a little sluggish.

Using the exercise app I walked a 2.10 miles. That was good!

About The Same

My father seems to be about the same as he was yesterday. He’s still eating. He still seems to be aware and mumbling/talking still somewhat. My brother and I moved his bed around in his room so there was more room to get around the bed to help him. One sister and one brother have been here since Friday. I’m going home tomorrow to vote but I’ll be back. They will be keeping us all posted on changes and what’s going on.

I walked a total of 2.80 miles today.

Visiting Dad

Today I drove down to Charlottesville today to spend a few days with my dad. When I got there, he recognized who I was. He was kind of mumbling/talking. It was hard to understand what he was saying. He was eating and drinking. But he wasn’t in pain. They have been giving him pain medicine on a regular basis. He looks so different than he did just two weeks ago. He seems to be declining pretty fast. I’m worried about him.

I walked a total of 2.60 miles today.

On The Way Home

On the way home from our little trip we stopped at Delaplane Cellars to pick up our club wines and do a tasting. The wines were pretty good.

My father has been set up in a hospital bed in his room. He is on all kinds of medications for his illnesses. He’s also on some decent pain meds to help with all the pain. One of my brothers is there staying with him and watching over him.

I walked a total of 1.54 miles today.

Skyline Drive

Today we started a little 2 day Skyline Drive and winery tour. We started off at Glen Manor winery. Then we drove on the Skyline Drive down to Sperryville Virginia. Then we went to Gadino Winery. Then we checked in at the hotel. For dinner we went to one of our favorite restaurants, Claire’s At The Depot. Here’s a picture of my husband while on the Skyline Drive. I think it’s a really good picture of him!

My father is going home from the hospital today. He’s been diagnosed with congestive heart failure, undiagnosed lung cancer and debilitating arthritis in his knees. He’s in some pretty big pain. My sister had to contact hospice today because turns out my father doesn’t have much longer to live. I’ll be driving down to Charlottesville on Sunday.

Today I walked a total of 2.13 miles.
