I took a walk around our building today and found these lenten roses. We haven’t had many warm days yet but I guess just enough to make these flowers come up. We are expecting a snow storm early this week so we’ll see how strong a hold Spring has. It’s supposed to be the first day of Spring on Wednesday. We’ll see!
Tonight for dinner my husband had scallops and risotto. I took a picture of it and put it on Instagram. It is now my most liked picture. As of this posting it has 52 likes. I know that’s not a lot but that is for me. I was very pleased with the number. However, what I think is a good picture usually doesn’t get many likes. I guess it was the tags I used to get it attention. I don’t know. What do you think?
Today I decided to make a short film. I did some research and found the best settings on my Canon 80D for a cinematic look to my shots. I then used Final Cut Pro to figure out settings to make it look cinematic in the editing. Notice the letterbox look. I also found a perfect piece of music to go with the video. I think it looks pretty good. It’s very short but I think it looks cool. And hey, subscribe to my YouTube channel.
Late this afternoon we went to a concert at the National Cathedral. The music and singing were beautiful. We thoroughly enjoyed it. Then we went to La Piquette for dinner. I love that place. I had a delicious half chicken while the husband had duck breast. And we had a wonderful bottle of wine. We had a wonderful evening. When we came out of the cathedral the sun was beginning to set and it was the golden hour. Of course I had to whip out the iPhone and take some pictures. I love golden hour.
It’s the last day of February! Today my husband got his hair cut. It was a bit different than he usually gets so I had to take a picture. Not sure if the picture actually captures the changes but I tried.
I think it looks really good. He has that little swoop up in the front that I think is different. I like it.
The weather changed today and got a little chilly and cloudy. It even rained a few times. While working in the office, I noticed there were a bunch of birds in the tree outside the window. I took a closer look with my camera lens and found they were Cedar Waxwings. I hadn’t seen them for a few years. So I spent some time taking a bunch of pictures of them. Here’s one of the better shots.
Since it was raining I walked inside. I did well! I walked 2.18 miles. I felt good about that.
It was raining today so I didn’t get to walk outside. So I took this picture. I saw a video on YouTube about Instagram and it said that if you give your photos a blue tint they are supposed to get more likes. Not sure about that. But I went ahead and give this photo a blue tint and tagged it blue. It got 24 likes so far. I get a range of likes so I’m not sure it’s more or not.
2.05 miles inside today. I went on an actual walk up and down the stairs. I was tired.
The weather was really nice today. It was 65 degrees! I decided to get back on the trail and get my exercise in. I walked 2.31 miles on the trail. I was sweaty by the time I got home. I walked on the Glover-Archbold Trail. I got some good exercise in today. Yay!
The sun came out today but it was still very cold. It did warm up a bit to 43 degrees this afternoon but it felt cold. I walked indoors again today. I walked 2.16 miles. here’s a shot of the sun through the window.
It snowed about an inch overnight. My husband didn’t have to go to work today. We had a leisurely breakfast and relaxed most of the day. I did go on a walk in the building and walked 2.14 miles. Then in the evening we went to The Grilled Oyster Company for dinner. It was date night!
When I got up this morning I decided I wanted something different for breakfast. I was tired of eating cereal or spending the time to scramble eggs and all that. Instead I took those eggs and put them in a container. I put some cheese and ham and some old bread and made an egg casserole. While it was cooking I decided to do my walk. I only walked 1.33 miles while it was cooking. But the casserole was perfect! It was small enough to have for breakfast and was cooked just right! It was delicious!
Happy Martin Luther King, Jr. Day! I hope you took some time to think about his contributions to our country and our world.
I got back to walking in the hall to get my exercise all at once instead of spreading it out throughout the day. I walked 2.16 miles in about 40 minutes. And of course since there is nothing to look at in the hall, I have a hall picture to share.
For dinner my wonderful husband baked a chicken! It was delicious.
By the end of the day I had walked 4.43 miles and got 10,180 steps.
Today we went to the National Gallery of Art. We wanted to see the new Vermeer exhibit but the line was SO long. We didn’t think we could stand in that long line.
We decided we would wander around the 18th and 19th century painters and see their paintings. We saw some really nice paintings. It was fun walking around, studying a painting and then talking about what we see. It seems like we must have walked into 30 or so rooms. Here are some paintings I really enjoyed:
After a few hours of viewing paintings we decided to have some lunch. We went to the museum cafe. It happened to be the same cafe we went to on our very first date. We had fun reminiscing about our first date.
