Gray Catbird

Today I was out walking on the trail getting some exercise and looking for some birds when I saw this Gray Catbird sitting on a fallen tree branch. I wasn’t too far away from it and it wasn’t scare or flying away. I had my big camera with the telephoto lens and was able to snap this picture before he flew away.

Dead Trees

As I’ve mentioned before, I’m walking outside as much as I can these days. I’ve figured out a route that I like and it gets my heart rate up without tiring me out too much.

I’ve started noticing people are putting their Christmas trees out for the garbage the last few days. All along my route there are scenes like this one. The poor trees have done their job and they are not put on the curb to die. Luckily the city does a good job of recycling the trees into much for around the city. We took our decorations down on Saturday and the trees are on the loading dock for the recycling.

Walking Outside

Today I had a good walk outside. I walked just over two miles. This time I went up low incline hills and got my heart rate up over 100 bpm. I felt really good and didn’t feel too tired at all. My heart worked great. I’d like to get up to three miles but that will take some time. I was also able to close all three rings on the Apple Watch today. I haven’t lost anymore weight this week though. I’m still at 214. All in good time.

Back To It

Now that I’ve had a heart attack and have started to get my nutrition figured out I’m going to get back to walking. I started yesterday by just taking a little walk around the neighborhood. It was a nice day and I walked on flat sidewalk. I didn’t want to get too heated or get my heart rate up to high too fast.

Today I got back to the treadmill. It was a cloudy day and didn’t feel like walking outside. I walked just over a mile and kept the speed at a decent level. Again, I didn’t want to get to hot or get the heart rate up. I did walk much farther than I did yesterday though so that’s a good start.

More Birds

I went bird watching today and added four new birds to my list. This brings me up to 16 birds. The birds I saw today are:

#16 Hairy Woodpecker

#15 Brown Creeper

#14 Carolina Chickadee

#13 Carolina Wren

I walked a total of 3.65 miles with 2.03 miles on the treadmill.
