We had some brownies left over so I decided to turn them into a short video. They were delicious! I couldn’t eat just one. I couldn’t even leave the crumbs! Watch in HD.

Dead Poets Society
I was a bit moved by the passing of Robin Williams yesterday. So sad his depression got the best of him. I watched much of the coverage on TV about his life and death. Of course it reminded me of all the movies I’ve seen him in. I really liked Good Will Hunting and Dead Poets Society the most. I guess I preferred his serious roles to his comedic roles.
Oh captain, my captain!
This evening I watched Dead Poets Society again to remind me why I liked it so much. His character really inspired those students to think for themselves and live for the day. Seeing it today though made me see the political message. At private schools at that time in our history, conformity was the rule. He was teaching them not to conform. I love that! The movie means a lot more today then the first time I saw it.
I think Robin Williams will be missed. He certainly left an impression on our film history. While watching Dead Poets Society, I saw on Facebook that Lauren Bacall died today. That’s two greats in as many days. Who will be next?

Summer Concert
Last night we went to yet another summer concert at Wolf Trap. We saw Pat Metheny and Bruce Hornsby. This was not my favorite concert. I was expecting both these men to play music they have done in the past and were famous for. Unfortunately, I think both were trying to distance themselves from their pasts and move on to new music. I’m not a fan of the newer music. I wanted to hear the Bruce Hornsby from the 80s and the smooth jazz of Pat Metheny from before. Pat Metheny played all this music that was incoherent, and relied on long rifs of guitar or saxophone and it just drove me crazy. He did play a few songs I liked and that sounded more familiar. Bruce Hornsby completely distanced himself from his past. He didn’t play a single song I was familiar with. I was a bit disappointed in the music selection these two made for the concert. This wasn’t the worst concert we’ve been too, I just didn’t enjoy it as much as other concerts we’ve attended.
Hiking
I strapped the GoPro on my head and took a little hike at Great Falls National Park. Here’s a short video of that hike. The footage is shaky because the GoPro doesn’t have stabilization in the lens.
