Visiting Mom

Yesterday I drove down to Knoxville to visit my mom. I got there in the early afternoon and spent the rest of the day with her. Today I spent the whole day with her playing Rummikub, shopping at Walmart and basically visiting with her. She is doing very well. Back in October she was released from Hospice care. I think that means she’s going to live a long time. She is hardly using her oxygen anymore. Here’s a picture of her I took today. This was before she got her hair done in the afternoon.

Visiting Bob

This morning I drove down to Fredericksburg Virginia to visit my friend, Bob. After having some breakfast, we went to three different art galleries in the Fredericksburg area. We saw photography, paintings, mixed media and an art studio where artwork is on display and artists are working. You could also buy artwork there. I enjoyed seeing all the artwork.

After the art, we went to Chatham. It’s a huge historic house that has been in Fredericksburg since 1771. It overlooks the town of Fredericksburg. It looks huge on the outside but it’s really only one room deep. It’s still pretty big though. It is part of the Civil War history of Fredericksburg. We enjoyed seeing all the gardens on the outside too.

After visiting Chatham we went to lunch and then I came home. Long drive but worth it to see Bob.

New Furniture

A few weeks ago we went to Bassett furniture and ordered a new couch and matching chair. The couch is a sleeper sofa since the husband’s parents come to visit and stay with us. The new furniture arrived today! I love the way the new furniture looks…very sophisticated. We got rid of the old furniture yesterday. We couldn’t get anyone to buy it so we had 1-800 Junk come and take it away. They say they would be donating it since it was still in such good shape. I know we’ll be enjoying this new furniture for many years to come.

Skyline Drive

Every year we go to the Skyline Drive to see the fall colors in the mountains. This year was particularly nice. We saw lots of color. It seems like the color that was seen most was a rusty yellow color. While driving I held my phone out the sun roof and shot a little video. I think it gives a good idea of what we saw while on the Skyline Drive. We love the fall color!
