What If

It’s been a cloudy, rainy day. I ran errands early in the day and had nothing to do the rest of the day. I have been very lazy. I watched TV, played online, and napped. I didn’t do much at all today. It was one of those lazy days you’d like to spend in bed cuddling with someone you love. Of course you have to have someone to do that with. I laid on the couch alone. I watched TV alone.

This evening I did get up and get a few things done. I cleaned out my computer junk draw. I organized all the discs and paperwork for each computer item I have. I put them in zip lock bags and made the drawer very neat. Organizing and making things neat always makes me feel productive.

While doing all this organizing I watched “The Kennedy Assassination: Beyond Conspiracy” on the History Channel. It’s the one Peter Jennings did for ABC a year or so ago. It’s a great documentary. But he does make me think those “what if” questions. What if Kennedy wasn’t shot? What would the world be like? If he hadn’t of been killed would Reagan or either of the Bushes have been President? If only there were a way to find out how things would be different. It’s amazing the questions the mind creates when it has so much time to think. Anyway.

In the process of organizing things, I took my camera book out and began looking through it. I had exchanged emails with another photographer who suggested I play with the settings on my camera to get different effects. He said I should play with timed exposures. I read in the book about how to do it and decided to play with the settings. Click on the picture to see one photos I created using the camera itself. I lit some candles and played with timed exposures on my camera. I found I needed more light so I had to turn on a low lamp. I set the timed exposure for 30 seconds. Pressed the self timer and got into position. As the camera was taking the picture, I counted to 15 and then got up and changed positions. I counted 15 more seconds and the camera shutter closed. The above image is what I was able to create. I think it’s kinda cool. It creates a ghost type of effect. I don’t care for the yellowish look. I tried changing the white balance and that helped a little but not much. Even so I think my camera is just amazing. It can do so much and you can customize so many of the settings. There so much I have to learn and so much I’ve already learned. Photography may take over reading as my main hobby…that is if it hasn’t already.

I know you are probably really tired of reading about my photography or seeing my pictures but hey, that’s me. And for those of you who have dial up or slow connections probably really hate the load time of some of my pages. If so, upgrade to a cable modem. Pages will load in seconds.
