I mentioned yesterday how fall is upon us and how things are changing. I noticed even more today. Some of you know that I walk a lot. During breaks at work I walk around the building. It's my form of exercise without going to a gym. I'm not gym material. Anyway, I try to walk at least 5 miles a day. Today I walked 5.71 miles. It was a good day. I have lots of breaks on Tuesdays it seems. It was a beautiful day so I decided to walk outside. The chilly air was crisp with a hint of what's to come. There was a slight breeze. I actually wore a coat to work today for the first time. While walking around and around the building I noticed more signs of change in the air.

On one lap I noticed one of those little caterpillars that is supposed to predict the weather. It's black on both ends and has a brown section in the middle. I don't know what they are called but this one had a pretty significant brown section in the middle. This is supposed to predict how long our winter will be. If it's true, we are in for a long winter.

On another lap I noticed how many squirrels were running around with nuts in their mouths (no jokes, please). They were running around looking for places to store their nuts for the winter. I don't know how they do it but they will burry their nuts in all kinds of places and then during the winter they will remember where they stored them. I find that amazing. Again, if the amount of storage taking place is any indication of the winter to come, we had better start doing some storing of our own.

On one of my final laps around the building I noticed a flock of geese taking off and flying away. We have a big open field and they love to land on our field and eat the grass. I guess they are taking a break from their trip south. I thought it's a bit early for them to begin flying south for the winter. I don't know anything about geese but it just seemed early.
