Senator John Edwards graciously bowed out of the race this afternoon. While I’m sorry to see him go, it is time to tighten the party. In his speech he spoke highly of John Kerry. He spoke of him as his personal friend. I thought his speech was very well done. He left on a very good note. In mid summer I thought John Edwards would eventually be the nominee. He had that air about him that I thought would carry him through. I wasn’t a supporter of his but I did feel he had something that Dean did not. Maybe we’ll see him in the future.

Super Tuesday ended up being super for John Kerry. He won 9 out of the 10 states that had races yesterday. I was pleased to see how strong the support was for his campaign. So at this point he is our nominee for the race. I will be behind him in the general election. The next question is who will his running mate be? There have been several names thrown around already. I just hope Hillary doesn’t come out of the woodwork. I hope it’s not suggested that she join the ticket. I don’t think the timing is right for her to be on a ticket. She should wait 8 to 12 years for the Kerry administration to finish it’s course. Other then Hillary, I’m not too worried about who Kerry’s running mate will be. I heard this morning that John McCain’s name was being kicked around. I hope he doesn’t join the party and become part of the ticket. I still think he’s too much of a republican to do us any good. Yes, he might bring in some of those conservative democrats but as bad as Bush is treating the country, they are already on our side. In the end I hope Kerry seriously considers John Edwards. I think that would make a great ticket. Edwards can bring in the southern vote I would bet. We’ll see. I’ll be watching how the running mate race shakes out. Should be interesting.

Now what the hell are Kucinich and Sharpton still doing in the race? Haven’t they gotten the message yet that they don’t have a chance in hell? I read on CNN.com that Kucinich and Sharpton are staying in simply to give those voters a choice in the primaries. If that’s the case, I hope they save the real votes for Kerry in November. We need all the votes we can get at this point. We don’t need anyone wasting their votes on Kucinich and Sharpton. Or even Nader. Get behind Kerry. He’s the one who can beat Bush.
