First Snow of 2005

Today we had the first measurable snow of 2005. I went to work knowing we were going to get some snow but I didn’t know how much and didn’t think I needed my ice scraper. It started to snow around 10 AM and snowed hard for a good 3 hours and then it let up. For the rest of the afternoon, we only had snow flurries. When I left work I had to use my hand to get the snow off my windshield. It was light snow and very powdery so it wasn’t a problem. I didn’t have any problems getting home either. I think we got about 2 inches in my area but that’s just enough to cause all kinds of problems in the DC area. I was watching the news a little while ago and there were accidents all over the area. And the traffic has been backed up for hours on certain roads in the area. You’d be amazed at what problems a little snow causes in this area. No worries for me though, I’m home and don’t plan on leaving until Friday when it’s back to work. They are calling for much more measurable snow this weekend so I might have more pictures. Here are some pictures shot off my balcony when I got home from work today. They aren’t pretty, but you get the idea of the snow we had.
