Apple HomePod

My Apple HomePod arrived today. I went ahead and joined Apple Music so that I could have access to all the music Apple has in iTunes. The speaker is really cool. The sound is amazing. Ever song I’ve asked her to play, she’s been able to play. I’ve asked her to play certain kinds of music and she plays a playlist of that music that’s already been created. She will also play any of my playlists that I created in iTunes. It’s what the first iPod Hi Fi should have been. She is limited in the amount of information she can give you though. Unlike Alexa, Siri is limited to only certain types of information. She can give you the weather, what the stocks were for the day, basic information about songs, etc. She can’t tell jokes, or play games or anything like that. Maybe in time she’ll get better. I’d say she beats all the competition when it comes to sound. It really sounds great. When the ability to have two HomePods playing the same music is added later this year, I’ll have to get another one. I’m pretty pleased with the way it sounds and operates. It was a breeze to set up too!

Market Correction

On Monday the market dropped 1175 points. On Wednesday it was back up about 500 points. Today it dropped again. It went down 1032 points. I think we can safely say we are in a market correction. Of course Trump won’t say anything about the market going down and won’t tie it to his horrible economic decisions. Congress is battling out a new spending plan. Sounds like they have one almost set…it will only last two years. It continues to be a Trump mess in the United States. We will continue to slide into a recession I’m sure.

In other news, Mardi Gras is next week. We are having a party on Saturday night. It should be fun!

Rainy Day

It’s been raining all day today. It was supposed to start out as snow and turn to ice but here in the city we have only seen rain. Just 45 minutes away they had snow and ice. Because of that the husband had the day off. We were pretty lazy today. I ended up walking inside. I walked 2.16 miles today. It was a good walking day.

Wine Clubs

I belong to several wine clubs in Virginia. Usually we go to the wineries and pick up the wines to avoid the shipping costs. However, a few of the clubs are down in Charlottesville and that requires and overnight stay unless I want to drive almost 3 hours down there, pick up the wines and drive 3 hours back. I don’t really want to do that. One of the clubs is Blenheim Vineyards…it’s the one owned by Dave Matthews. I was two shipments behind. So I decided to switch to shipping. Well the wines arrived today. Eight bottles of wine! Yikes! I’m glad I switched to shipping. Now they will just arrive without me knowing it. It already gets charged to my credit card so nothing will change there. I think I already have the other two clubs from down there on shipping.

Trump Effect and iMacs

It’s happening. The Trump effect is beginning. The country is in the midst of a horrible decline…in every aspect. Today it was the stock market. At one point it dropped 1600 points. The most in history. He’s ruining everything. The Dow closed down 1179 points. The single biggest drop in history. There goes some retirement accounts. I blame it all on Trump.

In other news I have been working on another computer. I got this 17-inch Late 2006 CD iMac on eBay for 99 bucks. It is in great shape. However, when it was shipped the guy stuck tape all over it. I had to use WD-40 to clean all the sticky off it. Then I maxed out the ram and replaced the hard drive with a 60 gig SSD. This one wasn’t nearly as bad as taking that eMac apart. And when I first plugged this thing in it began to stick like Indian food. So while I had it open to put the SSD inside, I cleaned it out really well. Now it’s like a new iMac! It’s fast and clean. I don’t have much use for it though. Maybe I’ll sell it on eBay and make some money. I don’t know. We’ll see.
