Glacier Bay

Today we sailed into Glacier Bay. I think this was the best part of the trip. It was so beautiful. The views were breath taking. On the way to the bay, we saw a humpback whale. We had such amazing views today!

Even though we spent the day on the ship, I still walked a total of 4.10 miles.

Bird Watching

This morning I went to Huntley Meadows in Alexandria to go bird watching. I did photograph several new birds. I will be updating the count soon. I did see this beautiful turtle too. The weather was pretty nice and I wasn’t cold today. I think I got something like 10 new birds.

I walked 2.06 miles today.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

If you’ve been reading my blog for years, you know that I keep a bird count. I photograph, identify and post pictures of the birds I see throughout the year. Last year I only recorded 32 birds. I guess I was busy because in years past I’ve recorded way more than that. Since I’m retired now I hope to go bird watching more often and break my record. I think the most I’ve recorded is 56. I think this year will be the year I break that.

Today I started off with two favorites. It was only 19 degrees outside so I don’t think many birds were out today. Maybe on a warmer day I’ll find more birds.

#1 White-breasted Nuthatch

#2 Carolina Wren

Warm Walk

It is too warm for November 3rd! It was 78 degrees when I walked this afternoon. I walked 2.68 miles on the track at AU. I was sweating! Global Warming is real! When I got home from my walk I saw this deer in the front yard. I got this close and he didn’t even get bothered.
