Bird Count

It’s time to start the bird count again. Last year wasn’t the best. I only photographed 36 birds. That is up from the last two years but still not the best. So today was a warm cloudy day but I was able to get out and get the count started. I photographed 6 birds on this first day. Here are the ones I saw:

#6 Song Sparrow

#5 Mourning Dove

#4 American Robin

#3 Northern Mockingbird

#2 Northern Cardinal

#1 Yellow-bellied Sapsucker

New Year’s Eve

Earlier this week I picked up my husband from the airport. He was returning for spending Christmas with his family. He came home in time to have New Year’s Eve with me. We had a delicious dinner of filet mignon and sautéed potatoes. And of course we had lots of wine to go with the meal. After dinner we watched the ball drop and then we were in bed by 12:30. We enjoyed our New Year’s Eve even though we didn’t have a party because of COVID.

During the evening I took a handful of pictures with my Polaroid. Instead of posting them all, I made a little collage of different times during the evening.

Celebrating Mom

The last few days I’ve been in Bethany Beach, Delaware. Almost all my family members gathered at a nice beach house to celebrate my mother. On Saturday we all walked down to the beach to spread my mother’s ashes. It was a very emotional gathering. She would be very pleased knowing that we all gathered together for the occasion.

While there my brother and drove down the road a bit and found the old beach house we rented for many years growing up. We were also able to have a few zoom calls with mom’s sisters and their families.

We did have a great time catching up, playing games and being silly. We celebrated some birthdays. We told stories from our childhood and shared great memories of mom. The weather was beautiful and the sunsets gorgeous. Here are a bunch of pictures from the last few days.

Skyline Drive

Today we drove to Front Royal, Virginia to visit a winery and to drive on the Skyline Drive to see the fall leaves. The weather was beautiful and it being a Friday there weren’t too many people along the way.

We started at the winery. We did a tasting flight and then enjoyed some lunch nibbles with a bottle of wine. It was so restful. The views were gorgeous.

Then we drove along the Skyline Drive and got to see some beautiful color. We stopped at several points to take in the views.
