On Saturday afternoon the boyfriend took me to the National Cathedral in Washington, DC. to hear the Cathedral Choral Society’s holiday concert. It was called The Joy of Christmas: A Norwegian Festival. We got dressed up and walked up to the Cathedral and found our seats. The music began and we settled in and enjoyed the sounds. The chorus sang many Norwegian songs. We couldn’t understand what they were singing but luckily the program had printed all the words in english. Many of the songs were eerie. I really enjoyed the orchestra that accompanied the chorus. A couple of times during the concert they played traditional holiday songs and the audiance was encouraged to sing along. The boyfriend remained silent during these times. He said he was singing loudly inside. That gave me a chuckle.
We really enjoyed the view of the inside of the Cathedral while listening to the music. While the concert was going on, the sun was slowly setting and you could see the change in the stained glass as the sun got lower in the sky and eventually disappearing. I really enjoyed the stone columns and buttresses.
After the concert we went to Cafe Deluxe for dinner and enjoyed a delicious bottle of Allan Scott 2004 Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. It went so well with our meals. We loved it.
We had a wonderful afternoon and evening.
