An amazing discovery was made this morning—Archerr is a gourmand, and I suspect that he is a closet foodie. Yes, I know what you're thinking–Archerr only eats Easy Cheese and Ritz crackers, but this is what he wants us all to think. This morning Archerr made multi-grain pancakes which he served with real Vermont maple syrup. He flavored the pancakes with a bit of cinnamon and a dash of nutmeg, and they were excellent. I also found out that Archerr has parsley, basil, and other spices hidden in his kitchen. More on these developments as they are revealed.

We had an incredible day. Archerr got back in the saddle after a 19 year hiatus, and we took a two hour trail ride through rural Virginia. He handled his mount, Tiney, very well. I suspect that Tiney was cowed into submission by Archerr's new black motorcycle boots. Anyway, along the way Archerr took photos of the beautiful winter landscape (Archerr will post the photos tomorrow). We're going to take the same trail in the spring when it's bursting with lush green landscapes, newborn baby deer, and bright butterflies.

After our ride, I took Archerr to Gray Ghost winery for a picnic lunch and barrel wine tasting. The temperature today was near 50 degrees and sunny, and we were able to enjoy our lunch outdoors. After tasting several of the Gray Ghost wines, Archerr selected the Chardonnay to enjoy with our lunch. We feasted on deli meats, almonds, soft cheeses, and apples–perfect with the lightly oaked Chardonnay. Our lunch ended with dark chocolates and a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon, and then we moved on to the barrel tasting. What a treat! We got to taste the wines as they were evolving in the barrels. We were even able to blend the red wines and then sample them with chocolates. I was quite impressed with Archerr's palate; while he trends toward the whites, Archerr swirled, sniffed, sipped, savored, and swallowed the reds like a pro. Can Archerr's wine and food cookbook be too far behind? Archerr left the winery with a case of wine including Gray Ghost's award winning dessert wine known as Adieu.

We're now relaxing on Archerr's sofa and watching the movie, As Good as It Gets. That also seems to be a good title for our day today!

This is from my old blog. Replace Archerr with Paul.
