Last night hurricane Irene came through my area with winds around 50 mph and lots and lots of rain. I moved everything off the balcony so nothing was blown around. Went to bed last night hearing the wind blow and the rain hit the windows. The power never went out which I was very pleased about. When I checked around for damage this morning the only thing I found was some wet spots around the windows where the water was blown in by the wind. I don’t think there will be any long term damage. The carpet will dry. Some quarter round molding in the dinner has expanded because of the water but that’s easily replaceable. So overall I’d say I survived hurricane Irene pretty well. Others not so much. I hope everyone’s power is back on soon and all the trees that are down are cleaned up in time for rush hour tomorrow morning.
Now that we’ve had an earthquake and a hurricane in one week, I’m done with natural disasters and hope the rest of the year is uneventful.
Hi Paul,
I am glad you made it though the hurricane o’k. I am a little worried about Fred.
I am his cousin in Illinois. I called him and got his answer machine. I hope all your family came though this without too much damage and everyone is o’k. I am known as Libby to your father. I hope you get this. Good luck on everything you do. Your cousin Libby.
Glad to hear you aren’t getting it full on like we did. Yes, please do enjoy some Malbec in my name! Cool!
Glad to know things are okay where you are. We’re just getting some of the effects from Irene up here in Maine – wind, rain – but nothing like you all got down that way. I’m going to toast her good riddance from the US Shores tonight with a nice glass of Malbec. I might even tipple a bit in your name too!
