Kiss

He had to get moving or he'd be late for work. We stood in front of his building under the canopy at 6:45 AM while the rain fell just feet away. He put his hood on and fumbled with the buttons. I told him they weren't buttons. I showed him how to tighten the strings and make the hood secure. Anything to prolong the goodbye. I wouldn't be seeing him for 10 days. After a good day at work wish and an I'll call you later, it happened. He leaned in and pressed his lips against mine. Just a quick goodbye peck but one that would leave a memory. His soft, moist lips touching mine..I'll remember that touch. It was a brief kiss, without noticing or caring about those around us. Then we each turned and headed in the rain to our cars. Ten days will fly by. As I drove home listening to Handel's Arrival of The Queen of Sheba from the opera Solomon Solomon HWV 67: The Arrival of the Queen of Sheba, I touched my lips and could still feel his pressing against mine.
