Reality

It seems like every network is getting on the Reality TV band wagon. Not all of them will make it. As a matter of fact some of the ones that have premiered this week probably won't last. I read in the Washington Post today that NBC dumped the last episode of The Last Comic Standing because the ratings were so low. They shipped it off to Comedy Central and then announced the winner on the NBC web page. Sad.

I also read that Manhunt on Bravo had dismal ratings for their first show last week. Of course I had to check that show out. Oh my gosh, what a waste of time. Yes, the men are gorgeous and all but the show itself sucks. It's so lame. All these men have to do stupid things like jump out of airplanes in their underwear, go shopping, and do middle of the night photo shoots. And week by week more of them get kicked off the show. I can't imagine this show holding anyone's interest, beyond the bodies, for any length of time.

Last night was the premiere of The Biggest Loser on NBC. First off is that the show is hosted by Caroline Ray. She should be a contestant! I felt so sorry for all those overweight people having to get weighed on TV. I know I've had my struggles with weight in the past but I would never let someone weigh me on TV. All the contestants were on two teams. Each team had personal trainers working with them for a week. They busted their asses to lose weight. Granted, many of these people had plenty of weight to lose but man, one guy lost 22 pounds in one week! Is that healthy? I couldn't believe that. Anyway, they tempted the hell out of the fatties by putting foods in front of them they knew they couldn't eat. How cruel. This show might hold my interest because it'd be cool to see many of them lose their weight and feel better about themselves. But again, each week someone has to be voted off. Last night it was the chick who lost the least amount of weight. What they didn't realize was she was one of the skinniest people there and didn't have that much to lose.

I haven't gotten into Wife Swap on ABC so I can't speak to that one. It's too much like the one on Fox. Plus, I don't know if the women on ABC get money like the ones on the Fox show did. It's not worth my time.

Last night I taped He's A Lady on TBS and haven't watched it yet. This one looks fun because it's about a bunch of straight men having to live like women for 3 weeks. It'll be funny to see some ugly men in drag. But then again, I could go to the High Heel Race next Tuesday evening on 17th St. in DC and see the same thing. But I won't.

Catalogs

It’s that time of the year again. It’s when all the mail order companies start bombarding me with catalogs. In the last two days I’ve gotten 5 catalogs in the mail.

I’ve gotten 2 L. L. Bean catalogs. One is for their outdoor gear and clothing line and the other is just for their men’s clothing line. I have never bought anything from the outdoor gear and clothing catalog so I don’t know why I’d get that one. I have ordered from the men’s catalog but not for a very long time. I did look through it and found some things I like but I won’t be ordering anything. I don’t need any new clothes. I also got a Land’s End catalog. Again, I looked through it and found several shirts I liked but I don’t need any.

I also got two J C Penney catalogs. How in the world I got on their mailing list I’ll never know. I don’t have one of their credit cards, I don’t think I’ve ordered anything from them for a good 4 years. Who still buys things from J C Penney anyway? I think I did get my bathroom rug from them years ago.

Finally I got the Potterybarn Holiday Decorating Issue. I have bought several things from Potterybarn in the past but not recently. I guess you stay on their list forever. This catalog has some very nice things but I don’t decorate very much for the holidays so I won’t be buying anything from them. They have tons of beautiful furniture but at very high prices. I’ve already bought an entire house of furniture from Store House furniture so I don’t need any furniture. I love furniture from Potterybarn though. I just can’t afford it. It’s nice to look at in the catalog though.

I guess if I didn’t get any catalogs at all I would be wondering why I don’t get them.

Fall Sky

The stratus clouds layer the sky like a stack of freshly folded sheets. Many of the leaves on the trees have begun to lose their chlorophyl. Will it rain this evening? I think it just might. Will the rain shake the leaves free and force them to reach the ground. I fear it just might. In no time the trees will be bare and the sky will be filled with gray clouds. Before you know it, the smell of winter will be in the air. We will begin to talk of snow. I would hate to live in a part of the country where you didn't see the seasons change like we do on the east coast. Fall is my favorite time of year. I love the chill in the air, the bright colors displayed in the trees, and the hint of winter to come.

Photo Shoot

Today I had another photo shoot. One of the photographers and one of the models from my first photo shoot came over today and we had our own photo shoot. I took about 300 photos in a few hours. I must be getting better at this because most of them came out really well. Of course I couldn’t post them all. I have chosen 60 of the best ones and posted them to a web page. Click on the picture to go to the web page. I’ve now had 3 really good photo shoots of male nudes. I think I have taken some really great photos. I’ve learned so much about lighting, my camera, posing, and from today, using props. It’s been such a great experience. I don’t have any other photo shoots anytime soon so I can relax and enjoy the photos. I hope you enjoy them too!

Its Friday

I am so glad it’s Friday. Even though I was off on Monday, it has been a very long week. My cold has hung on all week and the coughing came back last night in the middle of the night. It kept me up off and on all night. So I’m tired and will probably go to bed early tonight.

Last night I had a nice conversation on the phone with Homer. He’s coming to DC next week for a visit. He needed a place to stay for two nights so he’ll be staying with me part of his visit. It will be nice to meet him in person. I read his blog everyday and really enjoy following his life. He posted this week about his visit. And I quote:

“I’m going to DC next week and will be meeting a bunch of bloggers (e.g. Jimbo, Archerr, Chrisafer, GeekSlut, Dogpoet, Joe.My.God) and I suddenly have these high school feelings of inadequacy. Will they like me? What if I wear the wrong clothes? Will I look goofy? Will I be tongue-tied? Will I measure up? I sorta felt this way when I went to NYC in May to meet up with Mark, Steven, and Patrick, but for some reason it is coming on much stronger this time. It really reminds me of how I agonized about things in high school- the angst, the mental twists and turns. It is all very silly and human, it kinda amazes me how little things from your past can pop up and haunt you.”

Homie, I hope you don’t mind that I quoted you here. You should know that after our conversation last night I began to think the same way. Just be yourself. Everyone already likes you.

Earlier this evening a thunderstorm came through and dropped a bunch of rain on us. It also dropped the temperature. At one point there was this beautiful rainbow in the sky. So here’s a picture of it.
You know you spend too much time in your car when you refer to the empty side of your bed as the “passenger’s side” of the bed. Thanks David. Now get out of your car and get off the phone!
