At Night

At night, just after putting my head on the pillow and just before I drift off to sleep, I'm reminded when you're body used to be next to mine. I'd stretch my arm around your body and hold you close like two spoons in the silverware drawer. I'd listen to the air enter and exit your lungs and feel your chest move as you fall asleep. As I fall asleep at night, I miss not having you next to me, not feeling your body next to mine. At night I miss you most.

Marigolds

It's amazing what a little time, water, and sunlight will do for my balcony marigolds. About a month ago I planted these marigolds. They started as tiny little plants with only one or two buds. I wasn't too optimistic about their surviving and growing into healthy flower producers. Of course now I'm pleased with the progress they've made. As long as I pinch off the dead flowers and keep them watered, they do very well. Marigolds don't produce the most fragrant oder but do provide beautiful colors. They will continue to grow throughout the summer.

Bike Ride

David and I got up early to go on our bike ride this morning. We started out at the old Vienna train station. We went west on the W&OD towards Leesburg but only went as far as the Herndon Community Center. Round trip it's 18.6 miles. In one of my recent posts I said it was 12 miles. I was wrong. My bad. We got there at about 8:15 in the morning, put air in my tires, strapped on our helmets and were off. The weather was perfect. It was sunny. The temperature was in the high 60's. Very low humidity and a slight breeze. It was beautiful. The trail wasn't too crowded either.

For the most part I led the way. I don't ride all the fast so David was on my tail. At about the half way mark we stopped to rest a bit and have some water. Then we started moving again. David took the lead this time. Shortly after starting off again, the shoestring on my right shoe got caught around my pedal. It almost ripped off. I tried to yell to David (he had moved pretty far ahead of me) but he was too far ahead. So I just had to pedal backwards to unwrap the shoestring and then I reached down and shoved it in my shoe all while still riding. At the next road crossing David was stopped so I told him about the shoestring and was able to retie my shoe and keep going.

We stopped again for just a minute or so to get a drink and rest a minute. Then we were off again. We finally made it to the Herndon train station. There's a little mini-mart close so we stopped there and had something to drink. Then off to the Herndon Community Center. There we were able to use the bathroom and rest a little longer. This is where I discovered that my camera phone doesn't have an unlimited amount of memory. I had to spend a little time sending the pictures I had already taken to myself. While there David and I were eyeing a really hot guy. He was cleaning the bathrooms at the time. He had a tattoo on his leg and David was bold enough to ask him what it meant. He said it was for the Iron Man Competition. He said he had competed in 3. I believe it. He had a nice body and was very good looking. After drooling over that guy, we were back on the trail.

The ride back didn't seem to take as long as the ride there. And it didn't seem to be as tough a ride. I guess it was more down hill on the way back then it was on the way there. Along the way we did see some nice eye candy and some nature. David almost hit a chipmunk that was running across the trail. Then when we stopped because my shoestring got caught again, we saw a big deer run across the trail and up into the woods. It was pretty big. That was cool to see. Of course he was gone before I got my camera out. Toward the end of the ride I was getting really tired so I let David continue on without me and I took my time pedaling the last mile or so. When I rode up to the Vienna Train Station, David was already there resting. I was pretty hot and sweaty by that time. We rest and had some water and then called it a day. It was only 10:30 in the morning but I was tired. We had a great time on the ride. Saw lots of eye candy and enjoyed the great weather. We'll definitely do it again soon. One thing we both realized. DDW = Distance Does Wonders. Many of the guys we thought were good looking or hot from far away were actually not once we got closer. Keep DDW in mind while riding on the trail.

Chat Observations

So I've been hanging out on AOL and Gay.com lately without the intention of hooking up. I pretty much just hang in the room and don't say anything. I hardly ever IM anyone. If someone wants to chat with me they usually IM me. My profile is very blah. Nothing exciting. It's just there. I'm thinking though that I need to be more specific. A few things I've noticed while hanging out on AOL and Gay.com.

1. The bots are very annoying.
2. Men much older then myself (50's and 60's) are attracted to me.
3. Latinos and Asians are attracted to me.
4. You can chat and chat but it all comes down to “Do you want to hook up?”
5. I get more chat requests from straight female sluts then gay men.

I'm not interested in men much older then myself, Latinos or Asians, or straight female sluts. I might be interested in hooking up sometime though. 🙂

Odds and Ends

Today I painted my mom's kitchen. It took me all day. I painted the ceiling, the trim, and all the walls. I still need to go back tomorrow to put one more coat on the walls. Taping things off and cutting in always take the longest. It seems like I spent most of my day taping off and cutting in the edges. What a pain. But I'm a good son and she was very appreciative. She even bought me pizza for lunch!

A few days ago I got my bike out of storage. David and I are planning on resuming our bike rides so I thought I should have my bike cleaned up and put together. I spent some time cleaning off the dust, putting the seat back on, and putting air in the tires. I haven't ridden it since last summer. I'll have to dust off my helmet too. The weather is supposed to be really nice on Sunday so I think I'll try to talk David into having our first bike ride this Sunday. We like to go on the WO&D Trail (Washington & Old Dominion Trail). We usually ride from the old Vienna train station to the old Herdon train station. It's about a 12 mile ride, round trip. That's enough for us usually. There are some ups and downs but mostly it's flat. I also hate to cross streets (because of an awful bike accident when I was 14) so this route is decent because there are so few streets to cross. Should be fun. I hope I can talk David into going this Sunday.

I told Michael a few days ago that I'd help him with some filing. He's got his own business and needs help getting his office organized and files put in place. So on Monday I plan to spend most of the day working for Michael. He said he'd pay me 10 bucks an hour. A little spending money will be nice. It's not like I don't have the time. And I have hard time saying no.
