Time for Gifts

My husband is leaving tomorrow to visit his family in New Orleans for almost a week for Christmas. He does this every year. We decided we’d open our gifts this morning. I got him practical gifts and he gave me some very sentimental, thoughtful gifts. He’s such a good husband.

One of the gifts my husband gave me was a book called “A Mindful Day”. The book contains 365 ways to live life with peace, clarity and an open heart. See, I’ve been having some depression and anxiety lately. I have issues with my father’s death, with our relationship and supposedly with retirement (according to a doctor). I’ve been having more sad days then happy days. I’ve been to see a therapist and have started group therapy. In group therapy we learn ways to deal with our anxiety. One of the ways is to be mindful each day. SO when my husband gave me the book, I started crying. It means he understands what I’m going through and wants to help me get past this bought of depression. I was so overcome with emotion when I saw the book. I’m reading one page everyday. Hopefully in time I’ll feel better and not so sad all the time. I also have a psychiatrist appointment next Friday to possibly get some meds. We’ll see.

Today the Christmas Monkey got into the Christmas cookies. There were only two left by the time I got to him.

I used the exercise app to walk outside today when we went out to dinner. I walked 1.26 miles but I didn’t close all the rings on the Apple Watch.

Changed Appointment

Today I was supposed to have an appointment with a psychiatrist at Kaiser to talk about medication for mild depression and to help sleep and to help quit smoking (again).

The appointment was for 2:50 PM. I drove all the way to Falls Church on one of the busiest travel days of the year to go to the appointment. When I got there they told me my appointment was for NEXT Friday. I was SO mad. I knew the doctor told me on Wednesday that it was for THIS Friday. I think they changed the appointment without telling me. That’s fine. I’ll go NEXT Friday and hopefully get some meds.

Today I started a series of pictures for Christmas with the Christmas Monkey. The photos are to post on Instagram. Today the Christmas Monkey is playing in the Christmas tree.

I walked on the treadmill today but only walked 1.26 miles. That’s all I needed to close the exercise ring. I did end up closing all three rings on the Apple Watch.

Trip To Fredericksburg

This morning I drove to Fredericksburg Virginia to spend the day with my artist friend Bob. I haven’t seen him in awhile. We used to get together years ago and do art and have photo shoots. While in Fredericksburg, Bob showed me several art galleries and art shops in the old downtown area. I bought a few small pieces of art.

Bob also showed me where he has his work on display and for sale. Here he is in front of a piece of his work.

I’ll be visiting him again in the new year to actually create some artwork. It was fun spending the day with him talking and catching up.

I only walked a total of 2.12 miles today. I didn’t do the treadmill or close all three rings on the Apple Watch.

Blood Work

I had to renew some prescriptions. When I called them in, they said my doctor had to approve of them. I heard from her saying it was time for blood work. It seems like I am getting blood drawn every six months now. I guess that’s what happens when you get old and you take prescriptions on a regular basis. So I went to have my blood taken this morning. This afternoon all the results came back and luckily everything was in the normal range. Nothing to worry about. That’s good. But I have to look forward to going through this all again in six months.
