New Year’s Eve

Earlier this week I picked up my husband from the airport. He was returning for spending Christmas with his family. He came home in time to have New Year’s Eve with me. We had a delicious dinner of filet mignon and sautéed potatoes. And of course we had lots of wine to go with the meal. After dinner we watched the ball drop and then we were in bed by 12:30. We enjoyed our New Year’s Eve even though we didn’t have a party because of COVID.

During the evening I took a handful of pictures with my Polaroid. Instead of posting them all, I made a little collage of different times during the evening.

COVID Scare

Last weekend we went to a small dinner party with friends. We got a text from them this morning saying one of them tested positive for Covid. She’s had her booster so she’s having very mild symptoms. We decided we should get tested. My husband is down in New Orleans with his family for Christmas. He was running all over the city to find a rapid test. He couldn’t find one. I was able to get one at CVS. I’m glad to say I’m negative. That should be a pretty good indicator that he’s negative too.

Earlier this week he took a test here in DC with the free tests available at the libraries. He should be getting the results soon. It takes 3 to 5 days. I’m sure he’ll be negative. I’m not planning on going anywhere or doing anything for the next few days.

National Christmas Tree

This evening we went downtown to see the National Christmas Tree. I haven’t done that in probably 20 years! The tree was beautiful. It was a little chilly but worth it to see it this year. We also walked a few blocks to the White House to see how it was decorated.

On the way home we walked by the National Cathedral to see the colorful projections on the building. It was beautiful!

Joy of Christmas Concert

This afternoon we went to the National Cathedral to hear the Joy of Christmas concert. They didn’t do it in 2020 because of COVID. The last time we went to the concert I had my heart attack. It was nice to be back there without that happening. The music was beautiful and perfect for the Christmas season. After the concert we went out to dinner and then walked around the neighborhood to see the Christmas lights. It was a wonderful evening.
