Vacation

I am a terrible blogger. I let the whole month of July go by without a post. Well yesterday we started our vacation. We are in Charlottesville visiting wineries. We are staying at the cottages at Afton Mountain Vineyards. I woke up a bit early this morning and saw this sunrise. It’s almost like a picture I took almost a year ago. It was taken with iPhone 12 Pro Max. We’ll be here for a few more days. I’m sure we’ll buy lots of wine and have a great time.

Beautiful View

We’ve been in Charlottesville for a few days visiting wineries. We’re staying at a cottage at Afton Mountain Vineyards. I got up this morning to this amazing sunrise. We’re having a great time on this little vacation and this view makes it even better.

Visiting My Father

Today I drove down to Charlottesville, Virginia to visit my dad. I haven’t seen him in several months so it was time for a check in to see how he is doing. I found that he is doing pretty well. He has moved into the independent section of his Assisted Living Facility. He’s in a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom unit. He’s got lots of space. He’s got the place set up pretty nice. He is moving very slow and sometimes calls my by my brother’s name but besides that, he’s in pretty good shape. I took him to Walmart and got a bunch of stuff. Then we went to lunch. Then to his bank and then back to the facility. He was very tired by the time we got home. We spent the day out and that tired him out.

An overall 3.64 miles today.

Sunday Morning Walk

I skipped walking on Saturday to take a day off but I was back at it again this morning. I walked 2.17 miles at the track at American University. It rained a lot yesterday so the track was wet but the weather was beautiful. Here’s a shot from the campus.

On another note, I was sickened yesterday by the death and violence in Charlottesville. We have visited the town many times and my father lives there now. Trump did not denounce the violence by the white supremacists. Instead blamed “many sides” for the violence. These people are a dying breed and Trump should have called them out for what they are, terrorists. This is not the America it should be in 2017. We already fought a war against the Nazis. We shouldn’t be doing it again and not on American soil. I’m disgusted with Trump and his ilk. I stand with #charlottesville

Father

Three day weekends are a great time to visit our favorite wineries in Charlottesville, Virginia this weekend. We brought my mom down to visit with my sister while we are visiting wineries. We are also staying with my dad while here. I try to take a few photos of him each time we visit. Here’s one of the photos I took this evening of him. He will be 83 on January 1st. Besides not being able to hear too well and see too well, he’s doing pretty well. He says he’s going to live to be 92.
