One Last Snow

Everyone in the area thinks this will be our last snow. It snowed all day today. It started about 7:15 in the morning and didn’t end until about 8:00 this evening. The roads and sidewalks were too warm for anything to stick so I went to work on time. In the end we got about 3 inches of snow. Now the temperatures are dropping fast and it’s supposed to be really cold tomorrow with high winds. I do hope this is the last one. I’m ready for spring. I snapped a few pictures with my iPhone.

Before the snow started this morning, I filled the bird feeder at work. The birds came to the feeder right away and started eating. I didn’t have my big camera so I didn’t get any pictures. To help keep the squirrels away from the bird feeder I always put some seed on the windowsill. Sure enough a few minutes after I filled the bird feeder, the squirrels came to the windowsill to get some food. One sat there for a very long time munching on the seeds. I got really close with my iPhone and snapped a few pictures. It’s cute how he has his tail up over his body to keep the snow off. This was early in the morning so the snow hadn’t accumulated much.

The Snow Never Stops

MarchSnow
We had such beautiful weather over the weekend. On Saturday it got up to 70 degrees! It was cooler on Sunday but still very comfortable. Late Sunday afternoon the temperature dropped and the snow started. They were predicting 2 to 4 inches. When I got up this morning there was easily 8 to 9 inches on the ground. Luckily they closed school last evening so I didn’t have to worry about getting up so early. It continued to snow most of the day but tapered off by around 1 pm. It was mostly flurries so I don’t think much more was added to the total. Once the snow stopped I went out to clean off my car. Yep, it was almost 9 inches on top of my car. Once I got in the car and got the heater going, it was pretty easy to clean off the car. I did have to shovel the snow around my car and it heavy towards the bottom but I was able to get it pretty clean around my car. I guess this one will be forever known as the St. Patrick’s Day snowstorm.

On Saturday evening it was a full moon. I took a few shots of the moon but didn’t use my tripod. Still, I got a decent shot of the moon at dusk.

March Snow

It’s snowing again. We are supposed to get 5 to 9 inches of snow today. It started as ice in the middle of the night and transitioned to snow early this morning. It’s supposed to snow most of the day. I’ve got plenty of things to watch on my DVR.

In other news, I really enjoyed the Oscars last night. Ellen did an amazing job keeping things going and funny. She tweeted a picture out that quickly became the most re-tweeted tweet in history. I retweeted it too just to be part of the fun. I didn’t see any of the movies that were nominated but I did pick 50% of the winners correctly. I do want to see several of the movies and I probably will in the months to come.

Update: The snow finally stopped around 3:00 PM. In the end we got between 6 and 7 inches of snow. During the heaviest snow, I shot some video. Here’s what I saw.

Glass of Wine

I’m enjoying a glass of 2008 Melbac before dinner. Warren is making chicken and pasta while I enjoy my glass of wine. We had a very nice dinner last night for Valentine’s Day. We got each other our favorite chocolates and I’ve been eating them all day. Today we went to a winery while the snow flakes fell. Nothing accumulated but the snow flakes were fun to watch. We’ve had enough snow and are both ready for spring.

Snow Storm

I’m right in the middle of the east coast. It’s has been snowing all night. Right now we have just over a foot of snow. Schools are closed, governments are closed, nothing is moving. I think it will be awhile before I get out. I did go outside to take some photos though. It was sleeting at the time. I think it’s supposed to turn back to snow later today. We could get another three inches on top of what we already have. Here are some photos from my walk. On another note, you might notice I’ve been able to get some of the old posts back on the blog…thanks to an old RSS feed I found that hadn’t been purged yet. Not sure how far back it goes though. Anyway, enjoy the snow!
