Apple iPad

Apple has done it. Today Steve Jobs was back to introduce the iPad. It was good to see him back at it. I wonder if this might be his last “big thing”. I think the iPad falls between the iPod Touch and the MacBook. It’s bigger and better than an iPod Touch but smaller and not as powerful as a full size computer. I think it’s amazing. Of course I want one.

I’m sure you’ve already read or heard about all the things it can do and what features it has so I won’t go over them here. You can always head over to Apple and read about them for yourself. Or watch the video about it, it’s pretty cool. I will say though that I’m a little disappointed that it doesn’t have a camera built in. I like all the other features though. The size of the screen is perfect. I think it’s time I give up my Kindle and get the iPad. I have the iPod Touch but the screen is too small to do all things I want to do with it. I barely use it anymore. This screen is the right size to do what I want to do on the go. There is a version that offers the 3G option but I won’t pay a monthly service fee for that. I’ll rely on the wifi for online things.

They aren’t available yet but by the time they are, I might have my tax refund back and able to buy one. We’ll see.

  1. I’m hoping to get one! It’s portable, multi-functional and the price is right.

Still love the Kindle for what it does and I would be a lot more comfortable with it on the subway than an iPad.

  2. I may also need one! It can replac Kindle, iPod touch etc. I will also get the wifi version as I don’t use AT&T but see the value of the larger screen. Also not too big to carry around if you already have a laptop bag. I think it is great. I hope this is not Jobs last big thing.

  3. I just watched the keynote on-line, it looks great, but I don’t think I NEED one right away, also it looks like it won’t be offered in Canada right away, there’s no mention of it on the Apple Canada website. Also, I would be amazed if we were able to get similar 3G rates, cellular data rates are WAY over priced up here! It is cool though.
