The Count Grows

Today I went bird watching and added 9 birds to the count. I’m up to 10 so far! Here are the ones I photographed today:

#10 Canada goose

#9 Northern Cardinal

#8 Carolina wren

#7 Hooded Merganser

#6 Mallard

#5 Northern Pintail

#4 Ring-billed Gull

#3 Swamp Sparrow

#2 White Throated Sparrow

The Count Begins

Each year I start a bird count. I have to photograph the birds for them to count on my list. The husband and I went out for a walk today and the only bird we found was this beautiful American Robin. He’s #1 for the year.

#1 American Robin

Low Bird Count

I am ending the year with a very low bird count number. One of the lowest in many years. With the pandemic and election, I just haven’t felt like going out bird watching. Maybe things will change in 2021.

#16 Belted Kingfisher

#15 Barn Swallow

#14 Brown-headed Cowbird

#13 House Sparrow

Gray Catbird

Today I was out walking on the trail getting some exercise and looking for some birds when I saw this Gray Catbird sitting on a fallen tree branch. I wasn’t too far away from it and it wasn’t scare or flying away. I had my big camera with the telephoto lens and was able to snap this picture before he flew away.
