Celebrating Mom

The last few days I’ve been in Bethany Beach, Delaware. Almost all my family members gathered at a nice beach house to celebrate my mother. On Saturday we all walked down to the beach to spread my mother’s ashes. It was a very emotional gathering. She would be very pleased knowing that we all gathered together for the occasion.

While there my brother and drove down the road a bit and found the old beach house we rented for many years growing up. We were also able to have a few zoom calls with mom’s sisters and their families.

We did have a great time catching up, playing games and being silly. We celebrated some birthdays. We told stories from our childhood and shared great memories of mom. The weather was beautiful and the sunsets gorgeous. Here are a bunch of pictures from the last few days.

Brother Visit

My family will be gathering tomorrow at Bethany Beach, Delaware to celebrate my mother. My brother and his wife drove down to DC to break up their long trip to the beach. Tonight we were able to take them out to dinner. We had such a fun time catching up and enjoying dinner and wine. So good to see them!

Lunch in the Bishop’s Garden

It was a beautiful day today. We decided to walk up to the National Cathedral and have lunch at the Bishop’s Garden. It was beautiful as usual. We were able to go inside the cathedral as well. It’s been closed for awhile because of COVID. Not sure why they had it open today. Anyway, I took a beautiful picture of the sun shining through the stained glass windows. Gorgeous!

Hurricane Visit

Hurricane Ida hit the gulf coast on August 29th. It was almost a direct hit to New Orleans, where my husband’s parents live. They tried getting a flight out the Friday before but the flight was cancelled. They ended up staying there for the hurricane with their daughter. A few days after the storm they returned home to a small amount of damage to their house but no water and no electricity.

They decided to come and visit us. They’ve been here almost two weeks, relaxing and not thinking of the hurricane damage. Tonight we we took them out to dinner with our friends. We had a great time catching up with them and taking their minds off the hurricane. Not sure how much longer they will be staying with us but I’m glad we were able to help them in their time of need.
