What Are Sundays For?

I don’t know about you, but Sundays are great days. Lots of people spend their Sundays relaxing, reading the paper, getting up late, enjoying the day. I see Sundays as days to catch up on all the things I couldn’t get to during the week. I get so much done on Sundays. In the past few years my sleep patterns have changed and I just can’t sleep late anymore. I’m usually up before 7:00 am. Since Brad and I didn’t sleep together last night I was actually able to get a good nights sleep. I got up at 6:00 am this morning. I didn’t set an alarm or anything, I just woke up. So I did my lazy things. Read a little of the paper, ate breakfast, surfed the web reading my favorite blogs and web sites, checking mail. Then I put a load of laundry in and got started. I changed the sheets on my bed, took a shower, and went to run errands. I got all that done before 9:00 am! For some people that’s a whole days work.

Then I went to my mother’s house to meet with a real estate agent. She’s ready to sell her house and get a condo. She’s lived in the place for 39 years. When she and my father bought the place in 1965 they paid $16,500 for it. The real estate agent told her he could list it for $370,000. She was shocked. I’m glad it will go for that much. That way she can buy a condo out right and not have a mortgage. That will make her happy.

After meeting with the agent, I came home and finished my laundry, balanced my checkbook, paid a few bills, updated a few pages on my web site, read a few chapters in the book I’m reading and watched some TV. Then I got a surprise phone call! Brad called and asked if I wanted to go run some errands with him and get some ice cream. Of course I said yes. Any chance I get to spend time with Brad, I’ll do it. So he picked me up and we ran his errands and then we went to Creamy Stone ice cream shop (a new one just opened up in Vienna and there’s one in Fair Oaks). The place was pretty busy for a rather chilly Sunday afternoon. We waited in line and made our selections. After awhile we got our ice cream. We went outside and sat on the patio to enjoy it. It was very good. The portions were rather large so I had to help Brad finish his. It was delicious. Of course I’ll have to walk an extra 30 miles this week to work it off! Hahaha. Then Brad brought me home, kissed me, and was off on his way.

When I got home I checked my e-mail and I had a message from Apple saying my iPod Mini had shipped! I clicked on the tracking number and went to the Fed Ex site and it said it was in SHANGHAI China! Of course it’s tomorrow there already. It’s got tomorrows date as the day it left China. I hope it gets here by Wednesday. I didn’t really need an iPod Mini but I wanted one and I’m justifying it’s purchase by saying I will walk an additional two miles a day, each day to increase my cardio and increase my weight loss. Another 10 pounds would be nice. Brad thinks I look fine and doesn’t think I need to loose any more. I told him I’m loosing it for me, not for anyone else. I want to be 165 by my 40th birthday (I’m sure I’ve mentioned that before).

So that was my Sunday. I consider it to be very productive as well as relaxing. The rest of the evening I will watch Extreme Makeover Home Edition (but it’s a rerun so I probably won’t pay attention to it) and the Sopranos and then I’ll read a few more chapters in my book before bed. I love reading and this book is holding my interest. I hope you enjoyed your Sunday!

TV Night

Sweet Brad came over this evening. We watched the news together. We were going to watch an old favorite Logan’s Run. But instead we got side tracked and watched Playing it Straight and Wonderfalls on Fox.

Fox in general is a shitty network. They take other popular shows and tweak them just enough to put them on their network. Playing It Straight is a take off of Boy Meets Boy on Bravo that was on this past summer. Playing It Straight is about a straight woman trying to find love and money among 14 guys. The twist is that some of the 14 guys are gay. They don’t know who is gay and who isn’t. In the first episode she meets the guys and they all find out that some of the guys are gay. No one comes out because if she picks a gay guy then the gay guy gets a million dollars. If she picks a straight guy they split a million. By the end of the first episode she has to pick two guys to leave the ranch. She did and turns out both the guys she picked were straight. All the guys are good looking and could be gay or straight. It was hard to tell. We haven’t found out who is gay yet and I don’t think we will. I thought it was a stupid show. The girl started crying at one point and it was so lame. She had only met the guys a few hours before and was already crying. Doubt this show will provide anything but humor while it runs it’s course.

Wonderfalls was a different kind of show. Thom Shales in the Washington Post gave it a good review. I thought it was odd. All these objects kept talking to this girl telling her to do things. I can’t even go into much detail because Brad and I were laying on the couch and I kept nodding off and missing parts. Brad really liked the show. Coming from a guy who doesn’t have a TV or cable, I thought it must say something for the show. I told him he could come back next Friday and watch it again. I doubt I’ll watch it again. There was one part where the sister of the girl who was talking to objects realized she was a lesbian. That’s about the only thing I found interesting. I’m sure if Brad was writing about this show he could tell you so much more. I didn’t care for it and therefore can’t tell you much about it.

I’ve had a busy week and was really tired so instead of staying over, Brad went home. Brad had a very busy week and was tired too so it was best for us both to get some sleep. I have a work related thing all day tomorrow so Brad and I will do something fun tomorrow night I’m sure. I always enjoy spending a few hours with Brad. He makes me think.

Carrie Bradshaw Moment

I’m having a Carrie Bradshaw (ala Sex and the City) moment.

How soon in a relationship should you rely on someone to do things for you? Such as take you to the airport, help you drop your car off for service, accompany you to social functions, etc. Somewhere the lines are fuzzy early on in a relationship. I think it depends on the experience of the members of the relationship. Some would assume that once you’ve decided to be a boyfriends/couple that you can rely on that person for those types of things. Others would argue that you should assume nothing and take each occurrence as they happen. I guess each event has it’s parameters that would dictate the rules governing such decisions. To be safe, it might be wise to assume nothing and work towards greater understanding and communication. For those of us who are literal, clarification is needed. I will seek clarification.

Nothing To Write

When the month of March began I decided I would try to post something to my blog every day. Well today I could not think of anything to post. Nothing exciting or special happened today. Work was work, although we didn’t have network access so I couldn’t check e-mail or surf the web. So I couldn’t think of anything to write about. I mean, I could write about how Iraq signed their interim constitution but that’s become a boring subject to me. I could write about the mayor of Seattle signing an executive order recognizing gay marriages. I could write about Martha’s woes of the day. I could write about the actor Spalding Gray’s body being found in the East River in New York. I could write about the weather here in Northern Virginia (it’s gotten cold and windy again after some pretty nice temperatures over the weekend). I did watch the Sopranos last night. I could write about the change in characters and what happened in the first episode of this season but even that was a bit predictable. I could even write about politics and what Kerry and Bush said about each other today. I could write about religion but that would take too long and my opinions would be hated, I’m sure. I could write about how many fucking commercials they have on the news but that’s nothing new.

I don’t feel like writing anything about those topics. I think they are getting old and I’m bored with them. Not that I feel any different about any of those issues. I’m just tired of hearing about them on the news or creating an opinion about any of them. Feel free to submit a topic and I’ll try to write about it. So, nothing to write about. I’ll think of something better for tomorrow. I’ll think about something I have a strong opinion about or something of interest to me. Something should come up I’m sure. But feel free to suggest something.

A Few Things

Poor Martha got convicted today on all counts. What will happen to her? Sounds like she will no longer be part of her own company. Can’t have a convicted felon running the place. I’ve thought she was guilty from the beginning. I love her stuff and all and have even purchased some and watched her show on TV, but she’s guilty. She should have confessed from the beginning and paid the fine and let it go. Now she’s spent more money on the case then she would have lost selling the stock. Those who have so much always want more. Now she’ll appeal and spend more money. Sounds like she’ll spend 18 months in prison at least. Wonder what that prison cell will look like.

I got to work this morning and the cable was out. I usually watch Good Morning America every morning and I couldn’t. I almost didn’t know what to do. Instead, I got on iTunes and clicked on the internet radio and chose NPR from the listing. I think it was NPR out of California because during their commercial breaks they were talking about the weather and the traffic out there.

So while I’m doing work I’m listening to NPR. They have the typical news reports which I found boring. But then they went into a longer story about Supreme Court Justice Harry Blackmun’s papers being released to the public. It was very interesting to hear all about the notes the justices pass back and forth to each other while on the bench. They could certainly be catty at times. They also talked about decisions he wrote and comments he made about them. I found the whole segment very revealing. I’ve listened to NPR in the past but never for any length of time. I enjoyed it this time. I should listen to it more often. Brad has it programed in his car I believe. He listens to it every morning on the way to work. He also reads The Economist from cover to cover every week. He enjoys reading the politics of third world nations. I don’t find that as interesting as the historical aspects of Supreme Court Justice Harry Blackmun’s papers. Then again, Brad is much more intelligent then I am.

As some of you have seen, I have fiddled with the look of my blog and my web site a lot lately. I change things all the time. I should just pick one look and leave it that way. I looked on my bookshelf and discovered I have so many web design books and such. You’d think my web site and blog would be amazing. I haven’t taken the time to read the books or do the tutorials to figure everything out. Seems like I only reference the books when I have a problem I want solved or when I have an idea to add something and don’t know how to do it. I also search other web sites for ideas and the HTML to go along with it. I’ll settle down at some point and leave it the way it is. But now I’m thinking about a background color or picture. I wonder if it will be too much to have color in the back ground. It’d have to be something in the orange family because that’s the basic color of my page. I think the maroon accents are fine but would not do for a background color and if I were to lighten the maroon, it would look pink and I won’t have that. Enough about that. I’ll leave it alone for now.

I’m off to Virginia Beach tomorrow morning with Brad. We are going down for Brad to meet with his publisher about his new book. The weather is supposed to suck so I doubt we’ll go to the beach or anything. Just see the local sites and relax I’m sure. It’ll be nice to get away with Brad for the weekend. I’m sure I’ll take tons of pictures and post some on the web site later this weekend.
