On Tuesday Apple introduced new iMacs. Of course any new Apple introductions get me excited. I’ve been thinking about getting a new iMac for some time but have been waiting for just an update to occur. After seeing the changes in the iMac line, I decided to go ahead and order a new one. Now I’m really excited.
You might remember that I got my current iMac about two years ago. I will probably even get this one delivered about the same time. My current iMac is exactly 2 years old so it’s time for a new one.
I decided to order the 24 inch iMac with the 2.33 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor. I also decided to upgrade the ram to 2 gig. And I decided to upgrade the hard drive to the 500 gig drive. And finally, I opted for the upgraded graphics card, the NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT with 256 mb SDRAM. Of course it comes with all the wireless items built in. And it comes with the 8x SuperDrive. This thing will really scream I think.
Of course when I bought the first one two years ago I thought I’d hold onto it for a long time. I have started to notice it slows down during certain tasks. I really can’t justify the cost (it was expensive!) but I just think it’s time to upgrade. The old one will hang around for awhile. I might have to let the boyfriend play with it to learn more about the Mac OS. We’ll see about that.
I have no ship date yet for the new one. When I ordered it, it said it wouldn’t ship for 5 to 7 days and then it would take another 5 days to get to me. I’ll wait patiently for it’s arrival.
