Down To Charlottesville

Today I drove down to Charlottesville to be with my dad. He does not look good. He’s barely moving or reacting to anything right now. He’s not eating and not drinking anything. My brother and sister are still here and they report he hasn’t taken food or water all weekend. I was surprised by how much he’s declined. I’ve decided to document this end of life process with black and white photos. Here’s the first one.

I walked a total of 2.61 miles today.

No Photo

Today was a quiet day of packing and reflecting. I’m going to Charlottesville tomorrow and plan to stay until something happens. I didn’t take any photos today.

I walked a total of 2.51 miles today. And I finished the Veterans Day challenge by doing a workout for at least 11 minutes.

Thanksgiving Wines

We wrote an article about what Virginia wines to have with Thanksgiving dinner. Here are some we recommended.

Not much of an update on my father. He’s about the same. The hospice nurse checked in on him today.

I walked a total of 1.80 miles today.

Night Photo

I took my walk later in the afternoon today. It has been getting dark earlier and earlier everyday of course. My walk ended when it was dark. I decided to sit and rest at the bench and took a picture while sitting.

My father continues his decline. My brother reported that he didn’t eat any food today but did take water and some coffee. He is slowly unaware of what’s going on around him or who people are. He does still have his eyes open and reacts without words. I’m not sure how much longer he has. I have plans to return to Charlottesville on Monday but am wondering if I should go earlier. I’ll think about it.

Using the exercise app I walked 1.84 miles today.
