Plaid Is The New Black

I went to the city last night to have dinner and drinks with my friend Ken. We went to Annie's for dinner. I had some great fried chicken breasts. I can't remember what Ken had but I think he enjoyed it. While we were having dinner the staff sang happy birthday and gave a slice of cake with a candle to a guy who was sitting close to us. I felt sorry for the guy because it seemed as though he was spending his birthday alone and having the staff create his celebration. Then Ken suggested that maybe his friends were all out of town for Thanksgiving. Either way I thought it was sad and felt sorry for him.

After dinner we walked over to JR's for a few drinks. We got our drinks and found a place to stand. We did our browsing and I started to notice the amount of plaid shirts being worn by the guys standing around. I could understand if they were flannel plaid because it was pretty cold out. But these guys were wearing regular dress plaid shirts. Had I started a trend? I wear plaid all the time! Everywhere we looked we saw a guy wearing a plaid shirt. Ken suggested that plaid was the new black. Very cool. I'll finally be in style. Of course for the first time since I've been hanging out with Ken I was wearing a solid color shirt. Also, this was the first time Ken had seen me wearing pants. We hung out there awhile but didn't really see anyone worth talking to. So we decided to go to Windows.

When we got to Windows it was pretty crowded. Lots of big hairy bears standing around talking to other big hairy bears. None of these guys were my type at all. Some of the guys who find THEM attractive, I find attractive. So I gawked at them most of the evening. One guy was really cute. My type exactly. I had seen him there before when I was with Ken but he gave me enough signals then for me to know I wasn't his type. No problem. I just enjoyed watching him. After awhile he and his friend left. Then after awhile Ken and I looked at our watches and realized it was almost 12:00. Time had just flown by! So we decided to go home. We had a good time. I told Ken I need to visit him more on holiday weekends because traffic was great and the bars weren't so crowded that I felt claustrophobic.
