Women in the News

There were a lot of stories in the news today that were focused on women.

The first thing was the story about Todd Akin, the ignorant republican (I know that’s redundant) from Missouri saying that women’s bodies can take care of pregnancies that occur from “legitimate rape.” Really, were do the republicans come up with these idiots?

Next it was announced today that Augusta National Golf Club would finally admit women. Of course the two women they are admitting are how powered, rich republicans. Then again, I guess you have to be rich to get into the club in the first place. At least they have finally begun admitting women.

Thirdly, Rosie O’Donnell had a heart attack. She’s only 50…two years older than me. She credited the Bayer Aspirin for saving her life. She had a 99% artery blockage. She’s since had surgery and is recovering just fine. I’m sure she’ll get an endorsement deal with Bayer now.

Lastly, we lost a female comic legend. Phyllis Diller died today at the age of 95. She will be remembered fondly for her comedy.

I know you are probably already aware of these news stories but I thought it was interesting that so many of them involved women.
